Learn to Play Hockey Program: Hockey Lessons
At Rocket Ice Skating Rink, our goal is to provide fun hockey lessons for ice skaters of all ages and abilities. Throughout your child’s time in our hockey lessons, they will learn fundamental ice skating and hockey skills, grow as a skater and reach new levels as an athlete. Our coaches have outstanding hockey backgrounds and are very knowledgeable. Each player will be well prepared from their hockey lessons when they decide to join a hockey team.

Hockey lessons meet once a week. At the end of each session, hockey players will receive a Progress Report which will help them select the appropriate hockey lesson level to sign up for next. In order for students to maximize their progress we encourage students to attend Rockin’ Public Skates. This is a great setting for your child to practice their moves and skills while having fun ice skating to the music.
Session Dates
• 2024 Fall 1 Session: August 10th-October 6th. 9 Week Session.
• 2024 Fall 2 Session: October 7th-December 22nd. 10 Week Session.
• 2025 Winter 1 Session: January 4th-March 12th. 10 Week Session.
• 2025 Winter 2 Session: March 15th-May 25th. 10 Week Session.
• 2025 Summer Session: May 27th - August 7th (10 Weeks)

Learn to Skate for Hockey
Complete either Snowplow Sam 1 or Basic 1 and students four or older advance into our Level 2 Hockey Program.
Snowplow Sam 1 - Learn to Skate (Ages 4-5)
For students ages 4-5 with little skating experience who wish to learn to skate so they can play hockey. Helmets are strongly recommended. Snowplow Sam 1 classes are 30 minutes per week.
Class Times Fall 1, Fall 2, Winter 1 & Winter 2:
Snowplow Sam 1: Monday 5:50, 6:35pm, Tuesday 5:05 pm, 5:55 pm; Thursday 5:05 pm, 5:55 pm; Saturday 9:45am, 10:35 am, 11:25am; Sunday 10:25am, 11:15 am, 12:05 pm, 12:55 pm Class meets once per week for 30 minutes, $202 for 9 weeks, $224 for 10 Weeks. Basic 1 - Learn To Skate (Ages 6 & Up)
For students ages 6 & up with little skating experience who wish to learn to skate so they can play hockey. Helmets are strongly recommended. Basic 1 classes are 40 minutes per week.

Level 2 - Learn To Play Hockey (Ages 4-10)
For students who can skate, who have passed Snowplow Sam 1 or Basic 1 (or by permission) and are ready to refine their skills to learn to play hockey. If you have questions, please call us at 630-679-1700 or email us at hockey@rocketice.com. This level is designed to be fun and teaches the basic skating and puck handling skills necessary to have a positive experience playing hockey. All new participants receive a jersey and must wear their jersey for classes. Full Equipment Required. This level's hockey lessons are 40 minutes.
Class Times Fall 1, Fall 2, Winter 1, Winter 2 Sessions: Monday 5:00 pm, Tuesday 5:00pm, Wednesday 5:00pm, Saturday 9:50 am, or Sunday 3:20 pm. Class meets one time per week. $265 for 9 weeks; $294 for 10 weeks.

Full equipment required. Hockey equipment rental through Rocket Ice is available. Please sign up for one of the scheduled 30 minute time blocks to come for your child’s Hockey Equipment Rental fitting. Hockey Equipment Rentals at Rocket Ice are $16/month and a $50 deposit is required that is refunded upon equipment return. Payments will be set up during the fitting. Schedule your fitting here.

Level 2 - Pond Hockey Games
For students currently enrolled in Level 2 who would like to gain additional hockey time. 30 minutes of cross ice format pond hockey games. Supervised by our instructors. Pond hockey games occur just after Level 2 classes for less driving and more fun!
Fall 1 $154 for 9 Weeks; Fall 2, Winter 1 & Winter 2 $171 for 10 Weeks; Summer $159.
Times: Tuesday 5:40 pm, Saturday 10:30 am, Sunday 4:00pm
Must be enrolled in at least one current Level 2 hockey class.
Level 3 - Learn To Play Hockey - Intermediate
For Ages 5 to 10
For students who have passed Level 2 (or by permission of the coach) and are ready to advance their skills even further. This level emphasizes fun and continuing to advance players' ability to skate and handle the puck more efficiently. Shooting techniques are also introduced to players. All new participants receive a jersey and must wear their jersey for classes. Full Equipment Required. This level practices for 40 minutes.
Class Times Fall 1, Fall 2, Winter 1, Winter 2 Sessions: Monday 5:00 pm, Tuesday 5:00pm, Wednesday 5:00pm, Saturday 9:50 am, or Sunday 3:20 pm. Class meets one time per week. $265 for 9 weeks; $294 for 10 weeks.

Level 3 - Pond Hockey Games
For students currently enrolled in Level 3 who would like to gain additional hockey time. 30 minutes of cross ice format pond hockey games. Supervised by our instructors. Pond hockey games occur just after Level 3 classes for less driving and more fun!

Level 4 - Learn To Play Hockey (Ages 6-10)
For Players who have passed Level 3 and are ready to
continue to take their skills to a higher level and start
to learn team play. Emphasis is on skating, passing,
stickhandling, shooting and team concepts. Saturday
and Wednesday are skills days. Sunday and Tuesday
are game days. Selection of one skills time and one
game time is recommended. Add additional skills or
game days if you wish. All new participants receive a
jersey and must wear jersey to class. Skills and games
are 40 minutes. Full Equipment Required.

Level 5 - Learn To Play Hockey
Prerequisite Level 4

if you wish. All new participants receive a jersey and must
